Steel Plate Quarterly Industry and Market Outlook

The Steel Plate Quarterly Industry and Market Outlook is the essential reference for steel plate producers, for their buyers and suppliers, as well as for service centres, traders and the financial community. Offering views and support on the future dynamics of the markets, you can have the confidence to let CRU become an integral part of your market analysis team.

It provides a forecast of plate consumption, production and prices five years ahead, with the first two years broken out by quarter. Consumption and production are detailed separately for reversing mill plate and for strip or Steckel mill plate. Price forecasts are for heavy gauge plate (10-50mm or 3/8-2”). Our demand forecasting model projects consumption for the following end-use categories:

  • Construction
  • Line pipe
  • Offshore
  • Shipbuilding
  • Heavy engineering
  • Transport and other end-uses

Within each of these markets, particular attention is paid to highlighting developments in key value-added segments, including growth prospects for shipbuilding in China and Korea, the use of offshore structures and anticipated pipeline construction trends.

Each regional chapter contains in-depth analysis of:

  • Consumption and its key drivers
  • Inventory trends
  • Production
  • Trade
  • Trends in capacity and its utilisation
  • Prices
  • Industry restructuring and investments.
