Steel Monitor
2008 December Issue
Prices fall sharply once again as demand weakens

• Steel prices have continued to fall rapidly over the past month in all major regions, although the pace of the decline has moderated a little, if only compared to last month’s record falls.

Price stability may be seen in the New Year

• An end to scrap price falls along with the rebalancing of demand with lower production should see prices stabilise in the New Year, but no significant price recovery is expected.
