CRU Steel Prices for semi-finished and finished carbon steel products are the most widely used in the world steel industry.
- They are used in the physical contracts between buyers and sellers of steel.
Around 25-30% of direct shipments from US steel sheet mills are now priced against CRU Steel Prices. That’s 13-16m s.tons per annum, with a value of over US$13-16bn.
- They are used in the models that buyers employ to manage steel price risk.
CRU Steel Prices act as the “trigger points” for surcharges and are entered into thousands of, so-called, “variable cost contracts”.
- They are used in the settlement of “Over The Counter” (OTC) derivative products.
CRU Steel Prices are the trusted “settlement indexes” for Koch Steel Trading and other institutions that offer OTC derivatives to the steel industry.
